The mission of the Neuroscience Program student-run TUNA is to celebrate all things neuroscience. TUNA sponsors social and scientific events on campus and is engaged in outreach activities throughout the New Orleans community.
Activities sponsored by TUNA include mixers for Brain Institute faculty and students, graduate student-led panels on research and healthcare careers, and informal events such as neuroscience trivia.
TUNA members are engaged in numerous outreach activities. Among other initiatives, they work to bring neuroscience to New Orleans students through Boys at Tulane in STEM (BATS) and Girls in STEM at Tulane (GIST).
TUNA was instrumental in establishing the first Louisiana chapter of the neuroscience honor society, Nu Rho Psi, at Tulane University. In 2013, TUNA was recognized as the Outstanding Student Organization at Tulane.
